Our uniqueness is what connects us
One of the deepest wounds we can feel throughout life is not ‘fitting in’. The fear of being different starts when we’re kids. When we don’t feel that we belong, we can contort ourself, our personality, our interests and our body in ways that are not in line with our unique soul. This gives us a false sense of connection. The idea that we are all meant to be the same makes it very easy for us to be controlled.
Feeling connected to others begins with feeling connected to ourself. We each have different threads of creativity that make us who we uniquely are. When we channel our spirit through our creativity we begin to experience a sense of joy, confidence and deep belonging. Since our true home is our spirit AND our body, when we join the two through expressing our creativity, we naturally feel a sense of connection.
Each kids creativity is unique because each kids spirit is unique. If we look at nature we see the same truth. Each plant, animal, flower, and element are unique and this is what allows them to live and play together- to be truly connected! Each part of nature is different and this is what makes earth so beautiful.
What I get to see at The Rainbow Weavers Camp, is kids connecting through play, kindness, magic and the process of creating. Each child’s art is very different and this is celebrated. Experiencing the connection to their unique creativity allows them to feel connected to the group! Children often come in feeling nervous and shy, and after our first opening circle then kid’s begin laughing and sharing with ease because they feel so comfortable being themselves.
To be unique is an act of bravery.
May kids feel supported as they share their unique spirit with the world <3
