The conservation of nature is the conservation of innocence- a mirror of wild places and children.

I was out for a walk in the dunes by the wild Atlantic Ocean last week and I was the only person in sight. How beautiful it is to be in places that feel free. The national seashore is an area where the land is preserved and protected. Nothing is able to be built on it. The magic we feel in these places is the magic of innocence. I think so many of us feel the importance of preserving and protecting nature. However, can we see that the conservation of wild and free places is a mirror for the conservation of the wild and free spirit in children? The innocence in nature is the innocence in children.

The innocence and pure essence of kids can become conditioned out of them as they grow. Just like forests being destroyed, or waters being polluted we see this happening in kids creativity and unique spirit. With violent video games, toxic beauty culture, social media and the amount of tech kids are exposed to, its easy for their unique spirit to be dimmed. Their wild nature can become occupied like buildings built in jungles.

The mirror of the innocence in nature and the innocence in children can help us see the importance of each childs unique creative spirit. For the conservation of innocence, creative expression is essential. The opposite of consumption is creation. Nature is a creative expression itself, and when kids work with their unique creativity it casts a web of their own vibration around and within them. This helps to preserve their essence and builds confidence and strength in a world that can fit us in boxes of sameness. When kids create with ideas, visions and imagination that are their own, they are able to feel true joy, belonging and the magic of life. Their unique creative spirit is meant to shine and so needed at this time!

Our artistic day camp and gallery- The Rainbow Weavers, is built on helping kids connect to, strengthen and express their unique creative spirit. This program is fun, artistic and magical as kids tap into their own creativity and play with new friends in the beautiful land of Cape Cod.
